Block Storage Volumes
The account section covers all aspects of managing your personal account settings, team management, security, and more.
Overview
Storage volumes provide a block-level storage device for use as the primary system drive on a Core compute machine. Volumes appear to the operating system as locally attached storage which can be partitioned and formatted according to your needs. Storage within Core is fully persistent and exists for the lifespan of the compute machine it is attached to. Storage can be resized at any time.
Volumes offer cost-effective storage that is ideal for a broad range of workloads. They are well suited to both applications that rely on random reads and writes and throughput-intensive applications that perform long, continuous reads and writes.
- Regions: Volumes are region-specific.
- Media: Volumes are backed by SSDs.
- Sizes: Volumes can be created in sizes ranging from 50 GB to 2,000 GB.
Limitations: Increasing storage will expand your filesystem and is not reversible.
Block Storage Pricing
Storage is billed per-second. Pricing is listed per month based on size:
Size | 50GB | 100GB | 250GB | 500GB | 1TB | 2TB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Price | $5 | $7 | $10 | $25 | $55 | $120 |
Charges accrue for as long as the machine exists.
Note: Modifying your machine will affect your billing cycle. For example, if you upgrade your storage in the middle of the month, your invoice will reflect your new storage rate but you will be charged a prorated amount for the new storage.
